Tri-Flex Mascara Review
One of the benefits of being a stylist with Color Street is trying products before they launch to the public. Lipsticks, cheek colors, and now mascara were all available to us early so we could help you decide if a new product is right for you. This is my review of Tri-Flex mascara, the regular formulation.
For most of my life, I’ve worn some version of a popular drug store mascara. I buy the waterproof because I ALWAYS get transfer under my eyes with regular formulas. I have tried bargain and high end brands with the same results. After wearing mascara daily for thirty-six years, I gave up on finding a fix for it. I’ve tried tubing mascaras, lengthening, volumizing and moisturizing. One claimed to be more fun than sex but was just meh – no better or worse than my bargain mascara but double the cost, so I crossed that one off my list. The name was catchy, but the product didn’t live up to it.
The best so far had been a brand by a tattoo artist, but it had an annoying way of clumping up during application and the tube seemed to dry out really fast. It didn’t smear though, so I dealt with the clumping and flaking. It made my lashes really thick and dark, but didn’t do a ton of length or curl.
This (somewhat terrifying) photo is the result of my first application of Tri Flex regular mascara.
My first impressions:
- Tri-Flex went on with a creamy texture that didn’t grab at my lashes – no pulling sensation, just a smooth swoop. This was new for me, and I liked it!
- The brush is unusual. It’s patented 3-sided design is asymmetrical, curved with short bristles on one side and long bristles on the other. You get plenty of product on it and don’t have to dip back in the tube while applying your first coat. The long bristles keep your lashes separated and ensure the coat extends to the lash tips.
- An aha! moment for me was when I experienced NO clumping, and there was no flaking as I continued to brush it on. Hallelujah!
- The effect! WOW…my eyelashes appeared at least 5x as full and long, and they curled upward without using an eyelash curler.
- The best part – I applied it at 6:30 AM, and by 11:00 PM there was NO UNDEREYE TRANSFER. None!
I was SOLD. I’ve now worn it every day for a week and still get excellent wear with no flaking, clumping, or transfer.
